António Teixeira is the President of EDEN – European Distance and E-learning Network and a Director at Ibstpi – International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction. He teaches at the Portuguese Open University (Universidade Aberta) and is also a researcher at the University of Lisbon.
He was Pro-rector for innovation in distance learning at the Open University of Portugal and also integrated the Portuguese Rectors Council specialized committees on Scientific Research and Knowledge Transfer, and Evaluation, Quality and Innovation. Presently, he’s on the International Advisory Board of the Distance Education and Learning Futures Alliance at the Massey University. He’s on the scientific board of twelve international journals and has participated in over twenty international research projects in the fields of education and philosophy. His research focus on open education, namely OERs and MOOCs, online pedagogy and network learning, educational innovation, quality assurance and governance, and virtual mobility.
